Need helps with tickets to Africa to work with children! Even interested in buddy passes!

I am also requesting help with two round trip plane tickets to Ghana December 19, 2009 - Janaury 3, 2010. I would like to go back to Ghana to complete some more missions work at the orphanage - www.hardthaven.org that I worked at for 2 months from Feb. 2009 - April 2009. And also to assist in the creation and building of an all girl's school to be built in the Volta Region. My reason for asking for help with 2 tickets is to help out another person whose heart's desire is to do this kind of work volunteering and needs some help with getting there and back. Our housing is taken care of (thankfully) :)

About markwanaba

I live in the poorest part of my coutry Ghana in West Africa. Here in Bolgatanga, there is one rainy season when the locals have to cultivate their farms. Agriculture relies on rainfall which has not been reliable, resulting in one bad harvest after the other.

Women, who do much of the farm work and household feeding, are often deprived by their husband of much of the harvest. They now need to be economically independent of their husbands. You can help by adopting a fellow woman and supporting her at the beginning of the farming season. Just a hundred dollar a yeaar from "savings for fellow woman" can make many poor women economically self-sifficient.

This will enable them escape all kinds of abuses from their husbands, keep their children in school, and help prevent porverty related health problems like HIV, malnutrition, early and premuture pregnancies etc.

If you wnat to personally assist a fellow woman, a sister, mother or friend contact: markwanaba@yahoo.com / +233277179635

Short term training for adult and illiterate young girls and long term training for those who want to pursue higher education in their choosing career.

 3.0 THE PROBLEM STATEMENTS

A Ghanaian philosopher an academic and a brilliant orator once said if you educate a man you educate an individual but if you educate a woman you educate a nation. This anthropological statement gives credence to our vision.

The education of a woman is one of the most powerful forces of development particularly in Africa where social welfare and economic an advancement are constrained by valid population growth and weakly developed human resources base.

Although there is increasing political recognition of the importance of women and children education care, it is realized that more action and experimental intervention should be appropriated to demonstrate simple but cost effective strategies.

In order to design highimpact and sustainable strategies in-depth analytical research is essential to understand obstacle to women and children education care, in communities where RURAL INTEGRATED RELIEF SERVICE- GHANA  is located and operates

Our research has shown that the number of child non-maintained cases reported to the women and juvenile units of the Ghana police service was on the increase the unit recorded 2,065 cases as against 1,260 the previous year. While records at the department of social welfare reveals an increase of child non-maintenance cases from 1,213 in 2003 t0 3,889 in 2004 in a single region of the country and the percentage increase is almost the same in several other regions in the country. Causes of similar issues reported to Human Rights and Administrative Justice are more distasting and sympathic.

We have identified poverty on the parts of parents as the main causes of the problems. The organization has agreed with the opinion of the other research institution among other things that women should be empowered economically to support in the upkeep of family since women play a fundamental role in the upbringing of children.

It has also been found out that a strong correlation exist between nutrition and gender. The type of employment and income of women was shown to have impact on malnutritions. Regular in come for women reduced malnutrition in house holds as it improved womens ability to take care for their families better. The most nutritionally vulnerable groups are infants, young children and women, particularly those who are pregnant or lactating.

The multifaceted nature of the cause of malnutrion has long been identified. This is characterized by immediate and underlying causes such as household food insecurity, inadequate care for women and children inadequate health services all due to poverty. The development of our human resource as a nation is hampered to a significant extent by problems associated with mal nutrition. Nutrition has taken center stage in world politics and it has been identified as key in realizing the United Nations millennium development goals which focuses among other on the improvement of nutritional status thorough poverty alleviation and general sustainable socio-economic improvement (esp. women economic empowerment) in politically congenial environments such as Ghana.

It was identified that the incidence of economic constrain made many young women involve themselves in premature sexual habits just to earn a little money for a living. In the process some of these young women become pregnant with no man accepting responsibility because they often engage in multiple sexual partners. Some end up in total prostitution hence risking their lives with deadly sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS.  St James institute is the obvious choice for the solution of this canker.

Ghana labour force has grown tremendously over the past three decades without a corresponding improvement in the level of quality of employment .unemployment also grew from 2.5% for the labour force in 1984 8.6%in 2002. there also high level of underemployment among the labour force meaning a major human resource lost to the countries development such level of unemployment have an impact on poverty in Ghana. Sources, Ghana statistical services.

Another critical emerging problem is child labour. This is defined as any activity that is either economic or non-economic, that is too dangerous   or hazardous and /or for activity the child is considered under-age, since it is likely to have deleterious effect on the Childs health, education, moral and also normal development.

The Ghana child labour survey conducted by the statistical service in 2001 found that 40% of the 6.4 million people aged 5-17 years in Ghana were engage in regular economic activity .child labour occurs in all regions of Ghana. Over 93%of children cited poverty as the reason for working. The income from theses children was not only to help their parent but also to pay their school fees. The incidences of child labour were greater in rural than in urban and involved male and females in almost equal proportion.

The rate of maternal death of 64/1000 is a major contributing factor to new babies being orphaned and preceding children being send away to work.

Theses figures gives and idea of the struggle to meet the basic needs of an entire household die to poverty.

RURAL INTEGRATED RELIEF SERVICE- GHANA is at the forefront of supporting orphans and vulnerable children with scholarship package and also offers its kills training for women and guardian to help alleviate the plight of families.

The organization orphanage center called Ugemote Orphanage located in the Volta Region.

Demographic statistics show that women and children formed three quarter of the country population and so the protection of their rights was critical to national development.

RURAL INTEGRATED RELIEF SERVICE- GHANA center operates. Records available e showed that the weekly collection and special contributions which is usually conducted males vs. Females in most churches, the males regularly contribute much more higher than the female.

The problem is that most of them have no profession, no quality jobs hence low income, and simply cannot give what they do not have.

Therefore the need for the institute to empower them with income generating

International donor agencies and developed nations design economic policies with conditionality that directly affects the vulnerable of African. This was further emphasized during the recent conference held in Nairobi, Kenya by the African women millennium initiative on poverty and human rights. The women have accused leaders of the continent of being responsible for the poverty and numerous problems facing it. They said borrowing of money from donor communities had led the continent to an immoral and odious debt and derailing the development agenda. This according to them had denied hardworking Africans of honest wages for their labour.

Economic growth in sub Saharan Africa reached an eight year high of five percent recently, according to a report by the international monetary fund (IMF).however the growth improvement recorded in economic performance are not enough to meet the United Nations millennium development goals for reducing poverty.

Expenditure cuts in relation to the African economic crisis and structural adjustment programmed imply that already impoverished households will continue to suffer if measure taken is not fully implemented.

RURAL INTEGRATED RELIEF SERVICE-GHANA programmed had been designed to complement our government efforts of tackling the issues thought its poverty alleviation strategies.

GCP

Global Civic Preservation Inc. (GCP), a non-profit organization founded on civic, social and economic principles, concentrates with tenacity on the identification and resolution of twenty-first century youth development, social matters, economic imbalances and challenges as they affect our local and global society.

The organization operates in two sectors (Local Youth Development and Global Missions).  The Local Youth Development Program was developed from experience and interaction with local youth, statistical analysis, observation, research and surveys completed on Metro-Atlanta and local youth.  Global Civic Preservation is concentrated on empowering, educating, challenging and motivating Metro-Atlanta youth through various activities, programs and events while demonstrating and educating on civic responsibility both locally and globally. GCP is working in collaboration with the local school systems, local authorities, government, community, organizations and corporations fulfil the vision and mission. The derivative of this program was launched from the alarming rate of local high school drop-outs, drug trafficking and usage, domestic crime among youth, pessimistic influence, lack of structure and guidance and various problems within our homes and communities.   Several programs and services within each sector will be utilized as a resource and a method of development for the other. These two sectors of the organization create opportunity for the other and will provide insight on civic responsibility while promoting cohesiveness and unity for a common goal of individual wellness and a brighter global economic future.

The Global Missions sector of the organization is sanctioned to research and develop programs and services to facilitate global empowerment to those that are in economically oppressed areas of West Africa.  More specifically Global Missions will aid in the economic development of Ghana, West Africa where economic imbalance and challenges can be easily recognized as economic oppression, poverty, malnutrition, starvation, social and academic deprivation, lack of development and progression from a civil and economic perspective.

Global Civic Preservation (Global Missions) has developed an intervention initiative to address these major concerns.  Through intervention GCP will help eliminate the perpetuating cycle of economic oppression, helplessness and global poverty, while empowering individuals with knowledge, education and employable skills.  The agenda set forth is to preserve our global society by consistently and diligently collaborating with local and foreign governments, The United Nations, corporations, businesses, educational institutions, faith-based and other non-profit organizations and individuals to provide resources and services to establish and maintain structured programs and opportunities to empower those in our society that aren’t awarded these opportunities due to economic oppression and challenges.

Global Civic Preservation’s initiative is to invest in citizens, communities (both urban and rural), regions and nations by empowering with knowledge, employable skills and opportunities while alleviating the rate of oppression, poverty, famine, unsanitary conditions and epidemic diseases.   This initiative also incorporates both local and foreign community involvement, affiliations and alliances with educational institutions, faith-based and other non-profit organizations to facilitate the organization’s vision.
As a non-profit organization, obtaining a permanent place in the civil / social economic development sector is our primary goal.  We wish to acquire international renown within the next few years. We see it as our main mission to provide high quality service to the targeted markets. Our basic objectives are reflected in our programs, services and work ethic, which is to contribute to the enrichment of the quality of lives for people globally.

The local region of Ghana, West Africa has seen a significant amount of economic oppression to include, homelessness, malnutrition, starvation, disease, social and academic deprivation that requires the attention, dedication and tenacity of a non-profit organization such as Global Civic Preservation.  The ongoing and overwhelming concern expressed by residents, government, organizations and the United Nations has stimulated GCP to assist in the economic, social, civic and academic efforts in the Ghana vicinity.

The government in Ghana, West Africa has initiated an agenda to improve education, infrastructure, health services and community development and Global Civic Preservation’s commitment, dedication and expertise in these areas is aptly suited to provide assistance and guidance in these affairs.

GCP in it’s effort to reform, develop and revitalize communities, cities and villages in the Ghana region, has a requirement  to receive and administer funds for educational, social, developmental and research purposes; and to that end take and hold by bequest, devise, gift, purchase or lease, either absolutely or in trust, for such objects and purposes or any of them, any property, real, personal or mixed without limitation as to amount or value except such limitation, if any, as may be imposed by law.

GCP is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, educational and civil / social purposes, including, for such purposes the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. In furtherance of these purposes, the purpose of GCP shall be to:

  •  Stimulate major voluntary financial support from friends, corporations, foundations, and others for the sole benefit of empowering other individuals and communities globally.
